ZZ Top Making Headway On New Album

Texan icons still hope to have new album out this year

Hirsuit Texan three piece ZZ Top have revealed that they are back in the studio and working on their long gestating new studio album.

The album has been underway since late in 2009 and, as previously confirmed, Rick Rubin is producing. The album will be their first since 2003's Mescalero and it's thought to be a return to the band's bluesier roots.

"He's very instrumental in striking a resonant chord," frontman Billy Gibbons told SpinnerMusic.co.uk of Rubin's involvement. "He's able to find ways to pull things out that you might not know were there in the first place."

There is no release date as yet for what will be the band's 15th studio album, but they still hope to have it ready by the end of 2010.
