Wolfgang Van Halen's Mammoth unleash From Dusk Till Dawn inspired 'The End' video
Directed by Robert Rodriguez
Wolfgang Van Halen’s band Mammoth have unleashed their killer new song ‘The End’ and its cameo-packed, Robert Rodriguez-directed video.
A modern-day interpretation of Rodriguez’s 1996 cult classic film From Dusk Till Dawn, the newly premiered ‘The End’ video opens with cantankerous club owner Danny Trejo warning Mammoth not to perform too loudly at his venue.
Wolfgang Van Halen decides to ignore Trejo’s advice, and they unleash sonic fury upon the audience thanks to the searing sounds of ‘The End’.
Unbeknownst to Mammoth, the fiery music turns some of the punters into zombies, werewolves and vampires, and they begin attacking each other in a macabre bloodbath.
Sitting with his real-life wife Selena, Myles Kennedy is one of the attendees attacked in the furore, and he soon morphs into a zombie thanks to horror effects icon Greg Nicotero.
Other cameos include Gun N’ Roses legend Slash nonchalantly watching the carnage unfold in front of him, and Wolfie’s wife Andraia Allsop and his mum Valerie Bertinelli starring as kick-ass monster slayers.
As if that wasn’t enough, thanks to some hastily arranged desks in front of the stage, Wolfie parodies his late-great dad Eddie Van Halen’s table walk in Van Halen’s ‘Hot For Teacher’ video during the guitar solo.
The blockbuster ‘The End’ video ends with a direct nod towards Michael Jackson’s yellow eyes in the iconic ‘Thriller’ video.
Watch Mammoth’s ‘The End’ video:
‘The End’ is an adrenaline-driven rocker that kicks off with a signature lead guitar riff that has become a fan-favourite element in Wolfgang’s music.
The anthemic build of the intro gives way to the driving verse melody with each part carefully created and performed by Van Halen and his returning collaborator Michael “Elvis” Baskette. The chorus is driven by the unforgettable vocal melody and the message of “Take your hand in mine and watch the end with me.”
Wolfgang Van Halen says: “I’ve had the tapping idea on the intro for ‘The End’ since before Mammoth. I was able to fit it into this world. It’s still over-the-top and shreddy, but it’s also melodic and controlled. Overall, I was doing some different things on the record, and I knew this was going to be a big step. Once we finished ‘The End,’ it felt really special to me.”
UK fans will be able to see Wolfgang Van Halen as part of the line-up at Black Sabbath's special Back To The Beginning final concert on Saturday 5th July at Birmingham's Villa Park.
Following this, Mammoth will embark on a major North American tour with Myles Kennedy in October, November and December.
