Wilko Johnson Teams Up with Roger Daltrey for New Album
They promise 'that heavy power-trio sound'.
The pair recorded the album, entitled Going Back Home, together in under a week last year. It features remakes of 10 Wilko Johnson gems from both his solo career and Dr. Feelgood days, as well as a cover of the classic 1965 Bob Dylan single ‘Can You Please Crawl Out Your Window?’.
Daltrey, who is donating his royalties from the album to a Teen Cancer charity, said:
“I’m very proud of this album. So much music today is over polished. This record has a freshness that can only come from the pressures we’re under.”
The LP will be released on March 10th on the world famous Chess label which has been brought back exclusively for the occasion. The release will follow a very special one-off gig at London’s O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire in London on the 25th February (tickets on sale from 9am on Friday 24th January).
