Whitesnake share snippet of new single 'Shut Up & Kiss Me'
Whitesnake have shared a tantalising 24-second snippet of their new single ‘Shut Up & Kiss Me’ ahead of its premiere on Valentine’s Day.
David Coverdale and co. first teased the video premiere of their long-awaited new song last week, and, ahead of its unveiling on Thursday (14th February), the band have now uploaded a new teaser containing some of the music.
From what we can hear, the song nods to Whitesnake’s classic eighties sound and features the lyrics: “I’m tongue-tied and twisted whenever you’re alone with me / And then you said as sweet as can be ‘baby, baby, baby, shut up and kiss me’.”
‘Shut Up & Kiss Me’ is lifted from Whitesnake’s long-awaited 13th studio album ‘Flesh & Blood’, which is released in May via Frontiers Records.
Originally set for release in 2018, Whitesnake and Frontiers Records released a highly apologetic joint statement last April postponing ‘Flesh & Blood’ due to unforeseen “technical issues whilst mixing the album.”
They said at the time: “Whitesnake would like to express their sincere regrets to our Fans All Over The World for any and all disappointment and promise the album and tour will be worth waiting for.”
The band filmed the video for ‘Shut Up & Kiss Me’ back in March 2018 and David Coverdale describes the track as a "kick-ass song."
Alongside lynchpin David Coverdale, Whitesnake features Reb Beach (guitar), Joel Hoekstra (guitar), Michael Devin (bass), Tommy Aldridge (drums) and Michele Luppi (keys).
Whitesnake play Download Festival on Friday 14th June appearing on a main stage bill headlined by Def Leppard and also featuring performances from Slash ft. Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators, Clutch, Blackberry Smoke, Tesla and Last In Line.
Other acts peforming across the weekend at Download Festival include Slipknot, Tool, Halestorm, Slayer (final UK show), Skindred, Dream Theater, Stone Temple Pilots, Anthrax, Those Damn Crows and Brothers Osborne.
