South Wales Argus reports that Whitesnake fan Lindy Butcher is suing Newport council for £10k after she fell and injured herself at the Loft Bar in Newport Leisure Centre on December 7 2011. She says that a man helped her up and told her that she had slipped in some sick.

She revealed that she missed the start of the gig after going to the first aid room for treatment and to get cleaned up. The venue refunded her ticket as a gesture of goodwill but she has suffered longer term effects of the fall.

A claim filed against Newport council said she suffered bruising and soreness to her knees as well as pain through her neck and shoulders and muscle spasms between her ribs.

Newport council is yet to comment on the case but it acknowledges that staff were aware of the issue prior to Ms Butcher's fall.

A letter from Newport council’s legal representatives said: "It would appear the presence of vomit was reported to staff by a member of the public. One of the bar staff tried to call for a cleaner. However, it was extremely busy in the bar and cafe areas and in the absence of any detail concerning the actual whereabouts of the vomit and with so many people in the bars, it was difficult to pinpoint immediately where the vomit was located."
