Whiskey Myers to commence work on self-produced fifth album
Southern rock bastions Whiskey Myers have told Planet Rock they’re due to start work on their fifth studio album imminently.
Vocalist Cody Cannon and guitarists John Jeffers and Cody Tate caught up with Wyatt after their early morning Main Stage slot at Download Festival and Cannon said he was surprised by the voluminous crowd: “It was great man, there was a lot of people out there. They wake up early here, they must not have got too drunk last night.”
He added: “It’s great man, the fans here are great. They’re really passionate – that’s the main thing. Everything is cool man, we like everywhere we go.”
Asked by Wyatt when they’re going to record the follow-up to 2016’s Dave Cobb (Europe, Rivals Sons) produced ‘Mud’, Cannon said: “We go in the studio when we get back… we’re just gonna go out there and do it. We’re doing this one by ourselves so y’know we’re just gonna try pull it off.”
Jeffers chipped in: “We’re self-producing for the first time.”
Denying there will be any friction in the studio, Jeffers said: “Man, we’ve been together 11 years, we get along fine. I mean we still fight, the more we drink the less we fight so we fight sober. That’s why we need a beer right now, we’re waiting on a beer.”
