When Illegal Downloading Goes Very Wrong
A man who tried to illegally download the Slash album inadvertently downloads porn, now is not allowed unsupervised access to his daughter
If ever there were a lesson to be learned about illegal downloading, then Nigel Robinson from Hull just learned it in a most extreme fashion.
Whilst trying to illegally download a Slash album he found his computer was suddenly contaminated with child pornography. Instead of trying to hide his mistake he called the police to tell them what had happened and now he is not allowed unsupervised contact with his daughter until the investigation is completed.
"When I opened some of the files, I realised they were young girls," he told the Daily Mail. "I immediately called my wife. I was panicking. I asked her what she thought I should do and her response was to call the police.
"I was willing to take it on the chin for downloading the music. I half expected to get arrested for that but felt it was important because someone was obviously uploading this."
Instead the police called social services and Mr Robinson has been prevented from seeing his daughter unsupervised until the investigation is complete, Â which, say the police, could take up to a year.
