Waters Endorses Protest Revision Of Floyd Classic
Another Brick In The Wall reworked as new protest song
Roger Waters has approved a re-worked version of Pink Floyd’s Another Brick In The Wall Pt 2 to be released.
The new version of the 1979 Floyd classic has been reworked as an anthem for young Iranians by Canadian band Blurred Vision, who are fronted by two exiled Iranian brothers.
The song, which features the line "Hey, Ayatollah, leave those kids alone!”, has been released in protest at a law which prevents rock music to be played in Iran.
In a statement, Waters said he supports any fight against oppression: "I think it's great that these guys are using the song to protest against the repressive and brutal regime in Iran. South African kids did during apartheid and Palestinian kids do to protest the Israeli occupation of their land. I am proud to be a small part of this resistance.”
