Brian May, Roger Taylor and Adam Lambert performed a three-minute medley of two of Queen’s biggest hits - ‘We Will Rock You’ and ‘We Are The Champions’ – in front of the star-studded audience and hundreds of millions of viewers across the globe.

The performance at the 91st Academy Awards poignantly culminated with video footage of Freddie Mercury being shown on the backdrop. Watch it in its entirety here:

The medley was the start of a triumphant night for Queen as their biopic Bohemian Rhapsody was the most successful film of the entire ceremony scooping four prestigious Oscars.

Rami Malek won Best Actor for his role as Freddie Mercury and the film also triumphed in the Best Film Editing, Best Sound Editing and Best Sound Mixing categories.

Malek directly paid tribute to Queen during his speech, saying: “Thank you, Queen. Thank you guys for allowing me to be the tiniest part of your phenomenal, extraordinary legacy. I am forever in your debt.”

He added: “We made a film about a gay man, an immigrant who lived his life just unapologetically himself. The fact I’m celebrating him and this story tonight is proof that we’re longing for stories like this.

"I am the son of immigrants from Egypt, I’m a first generation American - and part of my story is being written right now. And I could not be more grateful to each and every one of you, and everyone who believed in me for this moment.

“It’s something I’ll treasure for the rest of my life."

Last month, Bohemian Rhapsody won the ‘Best Motion Picture – Drama’ and ‘Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama’ awards at the 76th Golden Globe Awards in Beverly Hills.

Out digitally right now and available on Blu-ray, DVD & 4K Ultra HD on 4th March, the home release of Bohemian Rhapsody boasts an extended 22-minute sequence of Live Aid.

As well as scooping multiple awards, Bohemian Rhapsody has proved to be a gargantuan box office smash making an estimated £660million globally against a budget of £38million.
