Watch Michael Ball make Aerosmith howler live on BBC Breakfast
Crooner Michael Ball embarrassed himself on BBC Breakfast this morning (22nd March) by making an Aerosmith clanger.
Ball sat down on the BBC sofa immediately after a feature on the inaugural World Heavy Metal Congress, which kicks off in London today, and was asked by presenter Charlie Stayt if he’d ever sung any heavy metal music.
Replying in the affirmative, Ball said “I’ve done some Aerosmith” before singing “Since you've been gone, since you've been gone” with great gusto.
‘Since You Been Gone’, of course, was written by former Argent guitarist Russ Ballard for his 1976 album ‘Winning’ and was popularised three years later when Rainbow covered it.
Sharing the video of Ball’s howler, Twitter user Johnny Foster wrote: “Michael Ball. Defending his metal Kudos. By singing squints through glasses Aerosmith classic ‘Since You’ve Been Gone.’”

It turns out that Michael Ball did in fact cover ‘Since You Been Gone’ for his 2006 album ‘One Voice’ – which also featured a version of Aerosmith's 'I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing.'
