Watch Metallica cover Lynyrd Skynyrd, Black Sabbath and Soundgarden

Metallica have shared professionally filmed footage of their Soundgarden cover at the Chris Cornell tribute concert in Los Angeles earlier this month.

The metal titans opened their four-song set at the ‘I Am The Highway: A Tribute To Chris Cornell’ event on 16th January with a version of Soundgarden’s 1988 track ‘All Your Lies’.

Until now there has only been fan-filmed footage online, however Metallica took to YouTube yesterday to share a pro-shot version. Watch it here:


In more Metallica covers news, Robert Trujillo, Kirk Hammett and James Hetfield covered Lynyrd Skynyrd’s ‘Sweet Home Alabama’ during the Rob & Kirk’s Doodle segment of their set at The BJCC in Birmingham, Alabama on Tuesday night (22nd January).

In homage to Birmingham, Alabama’s UK namesake, Rob and Kirk then launched into Black Sabbath’s ‘Iron Man’ at the 17,500-capacity arena.

The bassist and guitarist previously played Black Sabbath’s ‘War Pigs’ ay Birmingham Genting Arena back in October 2017 on their UK tour.


The UK leg of the tour also saw them cover The Clash’s ‘London Calling’, Led Zeppelin’s ‘Immigrant Song’, Iron Maiden’s ‘Phantom of the Opera’, Motörhead’s ‘Ace of Spades’, Nazareth’s ‘Hair of the Dog’, Oasis’ ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger’ and Joy Division’s ‘Love Will Tear Us Apart’ during the light-hearted doodles segment.
