WATCH: Guns N’ Roses booed after shouting ‘Sydney!’ in Melbourne

Guns N’ Roses were met with a chorus of boos at their show in Melbourne tonight (14th February) after they confused the city with Sydney.

The rockers were already 50 minutes late on stage at the Melbourne Cricket Ground due to ‘traffic issues’ when their guitar technician McBob, who has been introducing the group on stages around the world during their Not In This Lifetime tour, said “Sydney!”

Sydney and Melbourne have a long-standing rivalry dating back to colonial times so unsurprisingly it didn’t go down too well.

Despite the bad start, Guns N’ Roses made up for the mishap with a rapturously received performance at the sell-out show.

They took to Twitter afterwards to apologise to their fans, writing: “Melbourne! Accidentally after 30 years McBob made an error, we're truly sorry. Thank you for coming out tonight!”

Guns N’ Roses wrap up the Australian leg of their Not In This Lifetime... Tour in Adelaide on Saturday and Perth on Tuesday respectively. The tour lands in the UK this June for two nights at London Stadium.
