WATCH: Foo Fighters perform mash-up of Van Halen and John Lennon
Foo Fighters have performed a mash-up of two seminal songs.
Currently ‘woodshedding’ – aka practising their music – while on the road in South America, the band took to Twitter over the weekend to share footage of themselves performing the lyrics of Van Halen’s ‘Jump’ to the plaintive music of John Lennon’s ‘Imagine’.
The Foos took their inspiration from mash-up artist Magic Mike who originally posted ‘Imagine a Jump’ on YouTube back in 2010.
They captioned the video: “Woodshedding for the summer tour has never felt so good....see you out there....(I’ll learn the words by then, I swear). Thanks to Mighty Mike for the inspirado. (Oh, and Halen and Lennon, too).”

Alongside the studio version, the ‘Imagine/Jump’ mash-up was performed at two Foo Fighters shows in Brazil over the weekend - at Pedreira Paulo Leminski in Curitiba on Friday (2nd March) and at Estádio Beira Rio in Porto Alegre last night (4th March).
Foo Fighters, of course, often incorporate cover versions into their setlists and last August hit the headlines when they melded Nirvana’s ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ with Rick Astley’s ‘Never Gonna Give You Up’ with Rick himself on vocals at Japan’s ‘Summer Sonic Festival’.
AC/DC’s ‘Let There Be Rock’, Alice Cooper’s ‘Under My Wheels’, Queen’s ‘Under Pressure’ and KISS’s ‘Detroit Rock City’ are just a handful of covers that have made their setlist in recent months.
Foo Fighters come to the UK in June for a trio of completely sold-out shows in Manchester and London.
