The British metal legends have released the first song from their forthcoming album.
"Unleash the gods of War!" Biff Byford's trademark scream reverberates over a crushing riff and you'd be forgiven for thinking the very Titans themselves were battling to this soundtrack.
Saxon's first song from their forthcoming album of the same name, 'Thunderbolt' draws on Greek mythology to tell a tale of the king of the gods, Zeus, wreaking justice from on high.
Featuring footage from Saxon's pyro-filled performance at Wacken and a host of other live gigs, you can cast your eyes on our exclusive first look at the video below!
Speaking to Planet Rock, Biff Byford said "Hope you all like our first release off the new album, plenty more to come! 2018 is gonna be The Year Of The Thunderbolt! Play it loud!"
The follow-up to 2015’s critically lauded ‘Battering Ram’, ‘Thunderbolt’ is released on Friday 2nd February via the Militia Guard imprint (Silver Lining Music). Long-term collaborator Paul Raymond Gregory has once again created the typically eye-catching artwork.
It will be available to pre-order from Friday 1st December on CD Digipack, 180gms coloured gatefold vinyl, special edition boxset, tape cassette and digital download formats.
Biff says of the record: “It's a Storming Smashing Thundering collection of tracks we've been crafting with producer, Andy Sneap and it's finished ready to be unleashed. Stand clear and fasten your seat belts!”

Earlier this month, Saxon announced they will play three headline dates in February 2018 in support of their upcoming 22nd studio album ‘Thunderbolt’.
The opening dates of their Thunderbolt 2018 European Tour that also includes shows in the Netherlands and Germany, Saxon will play shows in Cardiff, Cambridge and Hull with support from Diamond Head, Rock Goddess on all dates plus Magnum on the Hull date only.
The dates are as follows:

Saxon have also confirmed that this is just the first part of the jaunt – Thunderbolt Tour Part 2 will be announced in early 2018.
Biff Byford says: “Ok this is part 1 of the colossal Thunderbolt World Tour we're going to be touring the whole of 2018 so get your tickets and join the ride. It's gonna be fast and furious, dark and brooding. Monumental riffing and screaming vocals loud and proud it's going to be a Saxon tour, unique in every way.”
