Following their long-overdue induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on Friday 29th March, Sheffield's prodigal sons have posted a short clip online detailing some of their exploits before the ceremony.
In it, we see our very own superstar DJ Joe, Phil Collen, Rick Savage, Vivian Campbell and Rick Allen arriving at their hotel in Manhattan New York, before taking to the streets to greet fans and then heading to the ceremony venue, Brooklyn’s Barclays Center. Once inside the bowels of the 17,000 seater arena, viewers are taken into Def Leppard's drape-strewn backstage dressing rooms.
We then see the band talking with their good friend Brian May - who proudly inducted them onstage during the ceremony. We also see Brian and the band posing for photos with Ian Hunter, who later joined them onstage for an all-star jam of 'All The Young Dudes'.
Watch the behind-the-scenes video below:
Whilst inducting the band on stage, Brian May spoke about joining Def Leppard at a Los Angeles gig in 1983 to play a mashup of Creedence Clearwater Revival’s ‘Travelin’ Band’ and Led Zeppelin’s ‘Rock and Roll’, which nearly ended with him being engulfed by flames.
Fortunately for Brian, Def Leppard frontman and Planet Rock DJ, Joe Elliott, was on hand to save him!
The full concert is not being broadcast on HBO until April 27th, but you can watch Def Leppard, joined by Ian Hunter, Brian May, Steven Van Zandt and The Zombies' Rod Argent and Colin Blunstone, performing 'All The Young Dudes' on stage at the end of the ceremony, here:
Joe Elliott's show is broadcast every week on Planet Rock at 6pm Saturday, repeated Tuesday at 9pm. You can listen back to the latest episode of Joe's show on Catch Up, here.
Def Leppard are headlining Download Festival 2019 on Friday 14th June - tickets are available from Planet Rock Tickets.
