Dating way back to 1967, the track was the first song that Alice wrote on his own as a fledgling 19-year-old and was completely forgotten about until original Alice Cooper band bassist Dennis Dunaway unearthed it from his vaults and played it to Alice.

Alice re-recorded ‘The Sound of A’ and it appears as the final track on his 27th studio album ‘Paranormal’, which debuted at no.6 on the album chart when it was released in July.

‘The Sound of A’ will be released on limited-edition CD and 10” white vinyl formats on Friday 23rd February 2018. It will be backed by four previously unreleased live songs recorded in Columbus, Ohio in May; ‘The Black Widow’, ‘Public Animal #9’, ‘Is It My Body’ and ‘Cold Ethyl’.

The song’s video sees members of the public don trademark Alice Cooper make-up and sing along to the psychedelic-tinged song. Cast your corneas on it here:

Alice has recently wrapped up extensive world tour that took in five continents and over 100 shows. Alice reunited with Dennis Dunaway, Neal Smith and Michael Bruce during the UK arena tour where they played a mini-set together.

In other Alice Cooper news, the shock-rock extraordinaire was recently cast as King Herod in NBC’s staged rock concert of Jesus Christ Superstar Live!

Airing on Easter Sunday, which falls on 1st April 2018, Alice will play the extrovert king who decrees that Jesus is a phony messiah after the ‘Son of God’ refuses to perform miracles for him.

Executive produced by Andrew Lloyd Webber, Tim Rice, Marc Platt, Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, Jesus Christ Superstar Live! will be directed by British theatre director David Leveaux.

Don’t forget, Nights With Alice Cooper airs on Planet Rock at 7pm on Mondays, and Tuesdays to Fridays at 10pm. Listen here.
