A project which began in May 2014, when Foo Fighters fan Fabio Zaffagnini decided he wanted the band to play a gig in Romagna, Italy for the first time since 1997, has culiminated in a spectacular performance from a group featuring 1000 members.

The musicians, collectively known as 'Rockin1000', all gathered in the town of Cesena to perform the Foos hit 'Learn To Fly'.

"I've been working on this for a year thinking about how to make it real," said Zaffagnini said at the end of the performance, "1000 rockers that came from all over the nation for one song. Our call is to ask the Foo Fighters to come and play for us and give a concert in Cesena."

UPDATE: It looks as though the idea may have worked, as Foo Fighters have since responsed with the below Tweet, which translates to "See you soon, Cesena... xxx David".
