Volbeat confirm their seventh studio album will be released in 2019
Volbeat frontman Michael Poulsen has confirmed that the band’s seventh studio album will be released next year.
Speaking to Planet Rock’s Paul Anthony ahead of their Main Stage appearance at Download Festival, Michael said Volbeat already have “a lot of songs” and they’re planning to get together in Denmark over the summer to “finish up” the ideas before recording the album in the autumn.
“We are (in the) writing process,” Michael said. “We’ve have a lot of songs; I’ve written a lot of songs, Rob (Caggiano, lead guitars/producer) has written a couple of songs and we keep on writing.
“When we’re done touring this year – late July – then we go home to Denmark and we take Rob with us and then we all get together and finish up all the ideas and the songs we’re working on. The plan is to enter the studio late November and there’s going to a Volbeat record out next year.”
Michael added: “It’s going to be great to kind of lock ourselves in the rehearsal room and finish all the work; we’re already working on stuff in sound checks and it’s going to be great.”
Volbeat’s last studio album ‘Seal the Deal & Let's Boogie’ was released in June 2016.
Elsewhere in the chat, Michael said that supporting Metallica on their North American stadium tour in 2017 was an indescribable experience.
“It’s always amazing to be on the road with Metallica,” Michael said. “We’ve done that a couple of times now and, of course, to have the opportunity to go on a stadium tour in America with the world’s biggest heavy metal band, I can’t describe it.
“We’re so thankful being able to do that, they’re such a great band and great guys. That year was crazy because then we went home to Europe and did our own headlining stadium tour. So that was a big year for Volbeat.”
