The latest taster of new album '2020'
Last updated 23rd Apr 2020
The recently revived Vandenberg have premiered the lyric video for their refreshingly heavy new song ‘Freight Train’.
Following in the footsteps of last month’s ‘Shadows of the Night’ and their new version of ‘Burning Heart’, ‘Freight Train’ is lifted from Vandenberg’s first studio album in 35 years, ‘2020’, which lands on Friday 29th May via Mascot Records.
Commenting on ‘Freight Train’, eponymous band leader Adrian Vandenberg enthuses: "Like a Freight Train! This is a song about character, determination and perseverance, things we all need in challenging times like these. We got this!”
The accompanying ‘Freight Train’ lyric video fuses plenty of train imagery with scorching flames:
The follow-up to 1985’s ‘Alibi’, ‘2020’ features nine all-new Vandenberg tracks alongside the aforementioned remake of the band’s defining anthem ‘Burning Heart’.
Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow vocalist Ronnie Romero lends his impressive pipes to ‘2020’, while the band line-up also features bassist Randy van der Elsen (of NWOBHM heroes Tank) and drummer Koen Herfst, (Bobby Kimball, Epica and Doro).
Additionally, bassist Rudy Sarzo (Whitesnake, Ozzy Osbourne, Quiet Riot, Dio, Queensryche) and drummer Brian Tichy (Whitesnake, Ozzy Osbourne, Foreigner, Billy Idol) guest appear on ‘2020’.
“I believe the vibe we have with this turbocharged line-up is wonderful,” comments Adrian Vandenberg. "We are not at all a nostalgia act, trying to recreate what happened all those years back. This is a brand new dynamic band with a name that has a legacy and I couldn't be happier with the way it's turned out."
The album is helmed by the esteemed producer Bob Marlette (Black Sabbath, Alice Cooper, Marilyn Manson, Rob Zombie).
The ‘2020’ track-listing is as follows:
1) Shadows of the Night
2) Freight Train
3) Hell and High Water
4) Let It Rain
5) Ride Like The Wind
6) Shout
7) Shitstorm
8) Light Up The Sky
9) Burning Heart – 2020
