Unseen Jimi Hendrix concert film returning to The Royal Albert Hall 50 years on
More than half-a-century on from The Jimi Hendrix Experience’s last ever European show at The Royal Albert Hall, the previously unseen concert film is returning to the world-famous venue.
Boldly billed as ‘one of the greatest and most anticipated unseen treasures in musical history’ and ‘rock’s greatest lost treasure’, The Jimi Hendrix Experience: The Royal Albert Hall documents the band’s final UK and European show on 24th February 1969.
Long considered a holy grail of ‘lost’ films, it will be screened to the public for the very first time at the venue where it was predominately filmed, 50 years and eight months on.
The one-night-only cinematic world premiere takes place at The Royal Albert Hall on Monday 21st October 2019. There are no other plans to screen the film elsewhere.
Tickets ranging from £17.50 to £35 go on sale from The Royal Albert Hall's website at 10am on Friday 4th October.

The Jimi Hendrix Experience:The Royal Albert Hall has never been formally released on any other format and has remained unseen since it was filmed.
As well as capturing the live performance by the Jimi Hendrix Experience, the film also chronicles the hours leading up to the concert with the crew granted unprecedented access to Hendrix and his team throughout the day that preceded the performance, including backstage goings-on and a post-show reception.
Featuring a state-of-the-art sound system and giant screen, the screening is as close as you can get to seeing Hendrix perform on the Royal Albert Hall stage more than 50 years ago.
The film boasts meticulously restored with remastered sound and colour-corrected picture. Jerry Goldstein and Glenn Stone of The Last Experience together with Janie Hendrix and John McDermott from Experience Hendrix painstakingly restored all of the original 16mm colour film elements for the feature length presentation.
Additionally, the legendary Eddie Kramer - Jimi Hendrix’s longtime recording engineer – newly mixed the accompanying soundtrack.
Janie Hendrix enthuses: “This has been a long time coming but we always had faith that things would work out and the public would see this film that documents Jimi Hendrix at the very peak of his powers.
“As those who are fortunate enough to see the showing next month at the very place where it was filmed will know, it has been well worth the wait and we are nothing short of delighted. The single word that springs to mind that describes this truly monumental development is ‘historic.’”
