Speaking on The Late Late Show, the U2 frontman revealed that the band had re-entered the studio to start work on a follow-up to 2009's No Line On The Horizon and that the pressure was on them to do something special on the next album.

"We've had the best three weeks in the studio since 1979," he said, adding that the band were aware that their last album had not had enough hit singles on it.

He said: "I think they the other band members are very aware that U2 have to do something very special to have a reason to exist right now."
