U2 Cancel Tour / Glastonbury Appearance
Bono\'s back injury forces band to pull all live dates
U2 have been forced to cancel their forthcoming US tour and their headline slot at Glastonbury Festival due to Bono’s back injury.
The news comes after Bono was forced to undergo surgery last Friday which scuppered the band’s tour preparations for the second North American 360 Tour and their first ever Glastonbury appearance.
Said Bono: "I'm heartbroken. We really wanted to be there to do something really special - we even wrote a song especially for the Festival."
Said Michael Eavis: "It was obvious from our telephone conversation that U2 are hugely disappointed. Clearly, they were looking forward to playing the Pyramid Stage as much as we were looking forward to watching them. At this point, we have no comment to make about possible replacements for U2's Friday night slot. Instead, we would simply like to send Bono our very best wishes for a full and speedy recovery."
The band’s 16 cancelled tour dates are due to be rescheduled in a couple of months and that special Glastonbury song will remain unheard for a while longer.
In the meantime, let the entirely unfounded "Led Zeppelin To Headline Glastonbury” rumours commence...
