This band just can\'t seem to stay friends
After a few months of calm Steven Tyler has somehow endeavoured to create more drama between himself and his Aerosmith bandmates.
This time the problem is that Tyler has reportedly signed on to replace Simon Cowell on the next series of American Idol – the US talent hunt which has given us such musical luminaries as... erm.
Tyler made the announcement earlier this week that he had been offered one of the slots on the judging panel for the series and that he had accepted the role. But that hasn’t gone down too well with guitarist Joe Perry.
Perry told the Boston Herald, "I found out on the internet like the rest of the world... I mean, this is no small thing.
"I mean, after working with me for 40 years, he couldn't tell me about this... Why so secretive? We're told it's a done deal. If Steven is committed to a TV show, that kind of affects the rest of us. We'd like to plan our lives, ya know?"
