Tye Trujillo, son of Metallica’s Robert Trujillo, has released a new single with his three-piece band OTTTO, ‘Ride Low’.

The young Trujillo unsurprisingly plays bass in OTTTO, with Bryan Noah Ferretti on guitars and vocals, and Ryan Duswalt on drums. The trio will release their debut full-length album in late 2021, which will be the follow up to the band's self-titled EP from last year.

Much like Tye’s father, OTTTO’s roots emanate out of Venice Beach and lie firmly in the thrash, funk, and metal realms. The 17 and 18-year-olds fuse together these genres to create a fresh new style.

Watch the video for 'Ride Low' by OTTTO:

The music video for ‘Ride Low’ was directed by award-winning screenwriter, directer, and editor Paul Marchand, whose 2015 documentary “Jaco” debuted at the SXSW Film Festival and was produced by Robert Trujillo.

Speaking about the video, the band state: “Somewhere in Los Angeles, it’s still the same as it always was; whirling helicopters, barking dogs, and the din of general insanity drifts through the busted single-pane windows on the hot summer breeze. Never mind the repo man, it’s a city of angels, and if you don’t give them what they want, they’ll run you right into the ocean.”

On 1st August, the proud and excited Robert Trujillo posted a video clip on his social media of him standing in line to see OTTTO play in Chicago, throwing up the devil horns and stating: “Yo it’s me RT! Check out that line man! White Reaper and OTTTO tonight at the Subterranean, and tomorrow they’re gonna be hitting it up at Lollapalooza!”

As well as being the son of a member of Metallica, at 17, Tye Trujillo already has a wealth of music industry experience having filled in for Korn’s bassist Reginald ‘Fieldy’ Arvizu on the band's South American tour when he was just 12-years-old. The offer came after Fieldy was unable to make the shows due to ‘unforeseen circumstances’.

Commenting on Tye's skill at the time, Korn guitarist James 'Munky' Shaffer said: “All the stops, and the breaks… it’s crazy to see somebody that young so talented. He’s gonna be a professional musician, and to know that at that early of an age is just inspiring.”
