Tony Iommi says Black Sabbath would be up for playing Villa Park gig
Metal godfather Tony Iommi has admitted there’s a chance Black Sabbath could play a gig at Villa Park.
In a fresh interview with eonline, Tony was asked about rumours that have surfaced about a Sabbath playing a one-off homecoming at Aston Villa’s ground.
Refusing to rule out the speculation, Tony said: “It was me talking about that, I started it! I think it would be nice to do that at some point.
“I haven’t spoke to the others about it, but it would be, honestly, and they’d be up for it. It’s early days yet, really. It hasn’t even sunk in as far as we’ve finished.”
Before Black Sabbath played their ‘final shows’ earlier this year, Tony told Planet Rock’s Wyatt that there could be further Sabbath activity in the future.
“I like (playing on stage) and I’m sure it’s not going to end like that; I’m sure we might do a one-off show somewhere,” Tony said.
“It’s just the touring for me – it’s time to stop roaming the world and be at home for a bit... I’m still going to write and put stuff out.”
Elsewhere in his interview with eonline, Tony was asked whether an album with Queen’s Brian May will ever see the light of day – four years after the project was first proposed.
He said: “Brian came up to my house a couple of weeks ago, and we started talking about it again, but it’s quite possible. We’d like to do it, but now he’s going on tour. But yeah, I’d like to do something with him.”
Don’t forget, this coming Sunday (25th June) at 7pm, Brian May is hosting his very own one-off show on Planet Rock where he’ll be playing his favourite Queen tracks, recounting stories from over the years and discussing his brand new stereoscopic photo book 'Queen in 3D'.
