Tony Iommi hints Black Sabbath’s final show will take place in Birmingham
Tony Iommi has strongly hinted that Black Sabbath’s last ever show will take place in their home city of Birmingham.
The metal pioneers are set to embark on the Oceania leg of their aptly named swansong The End Tour next month, however, Download Festival aside, they currently don’t have any UK shows in the pipeline.
Speaking at an ‘Audience with’ event at Birmingham Town Hall at the weekend – 44 years after Black Sabbath last played the venue - Iommi told the attendees it would feel right to end it where it all began.
“We are off to Australia in a couple of weeks, but it would be nice to think it could finish back where it all started – in Birmingham,” Iommi said.
“When we are home where we started, we have always found it a bit nerve-wracking, but Birmingham means such a lot to us.”
Asked whether a live album is a possibility, Iommi said: “It’s possible, because we are doing a lot of filming during the tour, too.”
Black Sabbath released an eight-track EP earlier this year, entitled The End, which is only available to buy on the tour.
It features four tracks from the ‘13’ recording sessions and live versions of ‘God Is Dead?’, ‘Under The Sun’, ‘End of the Beginning’ and ‘Age of Reason’.
