Rage Against The Machine’s Tom Morello has released a cover of AC/DC’s ‘Highway To Hell’, featuring guest appearances from Eddie Vedder and Bruce Springsteen.

The cover is the first single from Morello’s upcoming full-length album, ‘The Atlas Underground Fire’, which was announced yesterday (4th August).

The new record comes as the follow-up to 2018’s ‘The Atlas Underground’ and, like Morello’s previous solo material, will contain a number of guest collaborations. Alongside Springsteen and Vedder, Bring Me The Horizon, phem, Sama Abdulhadi, Damian Marley, and Mike Posner also appear.

Set for release 15th October on Mom + Pop Music, the collaboration between Morello, Vedder, and Springsteen on ’Highway to Hell’ is the first taste of what’s to come with ‘The Atlas Underground Fire’.

Watch Tom Morello's cover of AC/DC's 'Highway to Hell' featuring Eddie Vedder and Bruce Springsteen below:

Speaking about the classic track, Tom Morello states: “Our version of ‘Highway to Hell’ pays homage to AC/DC, but with Bruce Springsteen and Eddie Vedder, we bring this legendary song into the future. One of the greatest rock n’ roll songs of all time sung by two of the greatest rock n’ roll singers of all time.” He finishes with the sentiment: “And then I drop a shredding guitar solo. Thank you and good night.”

On the new album itself, Morello states that ‘The Atlas Underground Fire’ was recorded during the coronavirus lockdown, explaining: “During lockdown I had no access to an engineer so I had to record all of the guitar parts on the voice memo of my phone. This seemed like an outrageous idea but it lead to a freedom in creativity in that I could not overthink any of the guitar parts and just had to trust my instincts.”

Like most creative outlets during the tumultuous pandemic, Morello continues: “This record was a life raft in a difficult time that allowed me to find new ways of creating new global artistic connections that helped transform a time of fear and anxiety into one of musical expression and rocking jams.”
