The band’s headline slot at Steelhouse Festival on Sunday 28th July will see them play the album – which spawned the massive singles ‘Waiting for an Alibi’, ‘Do Anything You Want To’ and ‘Sarah’ – from start to finish.
Alongside the UK EXCLUSIVE performance of ‘Black Rose: A Rock Legend’, Thin Lizzy will also perform other musical gems from their distinguished back catalogue.
Also heading up the Steelhouse mountain this July are Thin Lizzy’s fellow rock legends, Uriah Heep, who play on the Sunday.
Completing this wave of line-up additions are Canadian hell raisers The Wild! and rising Midlands hard-rockers Liberty Lies.
Waxing lyrical about their latest bookings, promoters Max Rhead and Mikey Evans enthuse: “What can you say about Thin Lizzy – one of the most iconic names with one of the greatest catalogues in the history of rock. Among that catalogue is ‘Black Rose’… From the unmistakable drum intro of ‘Do Anything You Want to’ to the epic title track, it’s an absolute classic.
“For Mr. Gorham to agree to celebrate its 40th anniversary and play it exclusively at Steelhouse 2019 is a truly special announcement for us. What a way to bring the curtain down on the 2019 edition of Steelhouse - a true classic played in full plus all those Lizzy hits.
“Of course, there’s not one but two legendary names on this announcement, Uriah Heep’s addition is equally as pleasing. They’ve never played Steelhouse and we’re over the moon to finally have them with us. They’re an incredible live act and the latest album, ‘Living The Dream’ really proves there’s still a pile of creative juice in the tank.”
Thin Lizzy guitarist and longest serving member, Scott Gorham, says: “I am very happy to get Lizzy back together this summer – it’s always been my intention to keep the band going and bring the amazing catalogue of songs to old and new fans alike. Having an anniversary year in 2019 is an ideal time to put some shows in the diary.
“As It’s the 40th anniversary of that record, Steelhouse came to us with the idea of doing a Black Rose set – so how could we refuse!”
Thin Lizzy vocalist Ricky Warwick adds: “It’s great to be playing Steelhouse again – we all love this festival and to be asked for Thin Lizzy to headline the last night was a no brainer for us!
“To make the evening even more special we are playing the Black Rose album in its entirety as part of the set as a UK exclusive – which is great as it’s probably my favourite Thin Lizzy album”.
Although guitarist Damon Johnson left Black Star Riders at the end of 2018, he is still part of the Thin Lizzy line-up.
Uriah Heep’s sole constant member Mick Box says: “Heep are buzzed to be performing at the Steelhouse Festival in 2019, and playing their classic rock songs, along with their soon to be classic rock songs from their new album ‘Living the Dream.’ It will be a rock show full of passion, and we cannot wait to ‘Rock the House.’ ‘Appy days!”
The new wave of bands join The Temperance Movement (Saturday special guests), Living Colour (Sunday special guests), Tax The Heat, Those Damn Crows, Blackwater Conspiracy, The Rising Souls, Massive Wagons, Danko Jones, Ryders Creed, Gun, Crobot and The Amorettes at Steelhouse Festival 2019.
