Derbyshire purveyors of top notch blues rock, These Wicked Rivers, will release their new studio album ‘Force of Nature’ on Friday 1st March 2024.
The first taster of the band’s second record is the typically anthemic lead single ‘Black Gold’, which fuses catchy choruses and muscular riffs with weighty lyrics.
Commenting on ‘Black Gold’, These Wicked Rivers vocalist John Hartwell says: “I always love when you can dance to a song that’s also got something to say, and that’s what Black Gold brings to the table.
“It’s a song about corruption and greed, that you can sing along and move your feet to. I hope it brings some joy to everyone who hears it, especially during these times.”
The accompanying ‘Black Gold’ music video sees voluminously-haired quintet belt out the rip-roaring track with great aplomb in a stately home and its gardens. Watch it first on Planet Rock right here:
Enthusing about the upcoming ‘Force of Nature’, which follows their 2020 debut ‘Eden’, guitarist Arran Day says: “We’re incredibly proud of the album; it feels like this is us, as a band, sticking our hippie flag in the ground and saying this is who we are and it's only going to get better from here.
“I think the album showcases both power and emotion with a good balance of everything we have to offer. My hope is that when people drop the needle and sit back in the chair they will be taken to a magical place and forget about any worries they may have. If it achieves that, then we'll be happy.”
Fans can pre-order the album through These Wicked Rivers’ official website from 10am on Friday 15th September, and they can digitally pre-save it HERE.
Ahead of the album release, These Wicked Rivers play ten winter 2023 shows in England and Scotland alongside their previously announced Main Stage performance at Planet Rockstock on Saturday 2nd December.
These Wicked Rivers’ headline tour kicks off in Southampton on 1st December and calls in at Norwich, Birmingham, Sheffield, Glasgow, London, Chester, Newcastle and Derby before culminating in Bristol eight days before Christmas.
