Singer Phil Campbell and guitarist Paul Sayer caught up with Planet Rock’s Paul Anthony moments after their Main Stage performance at Download Festival and touched upon their future plans.

Paul said: “We’re doing some festivals in Europe and then we’re heading out to the US with Deep Purple for six weeks towards the end of the summer and then I think yeah we’ll see.

“I think we’re feeling pretty creative as well so kind of like get the balance right between playing the shows and taking this record to people but also working on another one.”

Asked whether being on the road gets their creative juices going, Phil said: “When we toured White Bear all the touring we were doing through America and stuff like that, it really does inspire you. When you start playing a record in front of people and they like it, it makes you want to do it again.”

Paul adds: “Often it’s a seed of idea that you put in your back pocket and when you get to the writing phase those things resurface and you kind of develop them. You get inspired on the road and you get glimpses of ideas but you don’t necessarily have the time to turn them into songs.”
