The Rolling Stones cancel Switzerland concert
They've been unable to reschedule the gig in Bern
The Rolling Stones have been forced to cancel their previously postponed concert in Switzerland as promoters have been unable to find an alternative date or venue.
Just hours before The Rolling Stones were due to take to the stage at Amsterdam’s Johan Cruijff Arena last Monday (13th June), Mick Jagger returned a positive Covid test and the legendary band postponed the concert and the next gig at Wankdorf Stadium in Bern.
The Amsterdam gig was successfully rescheduled for Thursday 7th July last week, however The Stones have issued a statement today saying the Bern concert won’t be going ahead.
“We regrettably have to announce that despite all the best efforts the Rolling Stones concert in Bern, Switzerland cannot be rescheduled and has now unfortunately been cancelled,” The Rolling Stones wrote.
“The Stones concert promoters have worked extremely hard and tried everything they possibly could to find an alternative date or venue for the concert in Switzerland but sadly this was not possible.
“The band wish to send a huge apology to all the fans in Switzerland who bought tickets and are deeply saddened they cannot perform in Bern on this tour.
“All tickets will be refunded from 21 June until 17 July 2022 from their point of purchase.”
The Rolling Stones also confirmed Mick Jagger is now “doing great” and their concert at San Siro Stadium in Milan on Tuesday (21st June) will be going ahead as planned together with their two concerts at BST Hyde Park.
The Liverpool gig earlier this month was The Rolling Stones’ first concert on UK soil since the untimely death of drummer Charlie Watts last August and it saw them cover The Beatles’ 1963 song ‘I Want To Be Your Man.’
