The Foos Play Secret London Show

Tiny gig wraps up the band\'s week in London in style PLUS listen to our interview with the band

Foo Fighters played a secret gig in London on Saturday – and Planet Rock was there to see it.

Their reputation for staging impromptu shows fuelled speculation last week that the band would play a tiny venue during their stay in London. The gig at Dingwalls came just 24 hours after their headline slot at the NME Big Gig at Wembley Arena. The Foo's are no stranger to the five-hundred capacity venue, having played there last in 2007.

Before beginning a set that lasted just under three ear-blistering hours, Dave Grohl asked the crowd "So you wanna hear the new f***king record?" before tearing through 'Wasting Light' in its entirety. It's early days but Planet Rock rates 'Arlandria' and 'I Should Have Known' as stand-out tracks, while the manic energy of 'White Limo' seemed to sum up the sheer intensity of the whole night. After the new stuff, there was barely time to draw breath before the opening chords of 'All My Life'. A slew of gems ensued with 'Times Like These', 'Stacked Actors' and 'Big Me' as just some of the highlights. An encore which included a jammed-out version of 'Young Man Blues' had even the hardiest of barflies craning their necks to catch a better glimpse at the action, before a momentous 'This Is A Call' closed the night's proceedings.

Not surprisingly, the Foo's were on incredible form; Grohl makes it look so darn easy, the five of them were tighter than ever; even Pat Smear looked positively delirious to be back in the bosom of the band. If you've got tickets for their upcoming big gigs, you're in for one of the best shows of your life. But if you've seen Foo Fighters before, you probably know that already...
