The Flaming Lips Reveal April Fools Prank

The "Dark Side Of The Moon" companion album turned out to be a joke.

On Monday, The Flaming Lips announced that they would release a companion record for "Dark Side Of The Moon" entitled "Flaming Side of the Moon", which had been created to be played at the same time as Pink Floyd's 1973 original.

They said that the album was also intended to sync up perfectly with the 1939 film "The Wizard of Oz", much like the Floyd album is famously rumoured to do (something that the band have always denied).

It's now been revealed however that it was all part of an April Fools Prank, in conjunction with comedy website Funny Or Die.

The lid was lifted on the prank in a video on the site called "The Flaming Lips Sell Out", which includes a series of screenshots of various news outlets that reported the fake release.
