The Cars Set For Reunion?
Band upload Facebook photograph of surviving members in the studio
A reunion of The Cars is looking likely after the band uploaded a photo of the four surviving members onto their Facebook page (see it HERE).
The photograph features Ric Ocasek, David Robinson, Elliot Easton, and Greg Hawkes (bassist/vocalist Benjamin Orr died of pancreatic cancer 10 years ago) and no real explanation.
One possibility is that the four bandmates are working with frontman Ocasek on his new solo album, but it’s looking increasingly likely that this could be a full reunion after Greg Hawkes was asked about the photograph:
"I hate to be vague, but I really can’t say,” keyboardist Hawkes told The Boston Globe on Tuesday. "It’s a crazy world.”
The Cars split in 1987 after ten years together. A semi-reunion happened in 2005 when Easton and Hawkes toured with Utopia band members Todd Rundgren, Prairie Prince, and Kasim Sulton as The New Cars, against the wishes of Ocasek and Robinson.
More news as and when we get it.
