The Cadillac Three have shared their new single ‘Double Wide Grave’, which is partially inspired by the untimely passing of Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins in March 2022.

Lifted from the band’s upcoming sixth album ‘The Years Go Fast’, which is released on Friday 27th October 2023, ‘Double Wide Grave’ was recorded just a few days after Taylor Hawkins’ passing.

Singer Jaren Johnston initially wrote ‘Double Wide Grave’ as a love song to someone you can’t live without, however the track soon took on extra meaning as Johnston was working on Foo Fighters guitarist Chris Shiflett’s latest album ‘Lost at Sea’ at the time.

Laying down the track, Johnston decided to fuse Foo Fighters’ rock sound with The Cadillac Three’s trademark southern twang.

Johnston explains: "It’s a heavy love song. 'Double Wide Grave' is another song I wrote about me and my wife, but it happened to be written when we were also dealing with the loss of Taylor Hawkins from Foo Fighters.

“I made that track a day or two after he passed. At the time, I was producing the Foo Fighters’ guitarist Chris Shiflett’s album, so I got to witness the pain the band was going through.

“I did everything in the song like they would’ve done it, just with a southern TC3 spin added in, and it worked."

Also featuring the single ‘Young & Hungry’, which is currently on heavy rotation on Loz Guest’s Stateside, The Cadillac Three’s new album ‘The Years Go Fast’ boasts 12 all-new tracks.

Commenting on the album, drummer Neil Mason says: “This record does have a lot of growth, a lot of hurt and heartbreak. We are a little more grown up now, but we’re still doing the same thing we were doing in the beginning.”
