Back in 2000, a collection of documents relating to The Beach Boys were uncovered in a Florida storage facility.

Consisting of sheet music, photos, handwritten lyrics and letters spanning the first twenty years of the group's career, they are to be auctioned off in London next month.

This follows several years of legal battles, after which the material was sold to a private company. The Beach Boys have confirmed that they are aware of the sale, but declined to make any further comment.

"This historic collection, containing many of the Beach Boys' own publishing documents along with assorted handwritten musical pieces, vintage legal papers, and various promotional and personal items from their early years, presents a priceless look into the inner workings of this legendary group" said Alan Boyd, Beach Boys archivist and expert.
