Stooges Documentary In The Pipeline
Indie filmmaker Jim Jarmusch recruited to make unique music doc
A documentary directed by indie film icon Jim Jarmusch about The Stooges is on the way.
The director revealed to Rolling Stone that the film was probably years away, but that it will be a unique film in terms of music documentaries, eschewing the usual talking head method of story telling. It will also feature new music recorded by Scott and Ron Asheton before Ron Asheton’s death last year.
"It's something that Iggy asked me to do about a year ago, because he knew I was a huge fan of the Stooges," says Jarmusch. "It's not an overview of Iggy Pop or his life or his career, but of course the Stooges are so important in the history of music, and certainly Iggy's the engine of it."
