Stones Tour Prompts Bidding War
Rumours suggest that promoters are getting very excited about potential tour
The next tour by the Rolling Stones has sparked a bidding war between promoter heavyweights Live Nation and AEG, if rumours are to be believed.
Several rumours emerged over the weekend that the Stones were lining up a farewell 50th Anniversary tour. It turns out this was, according to a reliable source close to the band, nonsense ("No, they are not retiring" was the response).
However, it does seem that there may be some truth to the touring part of the story and according to a report in Music Week there is a potential bidding war emerging between the world’s two biggest tour promoters.
Live Nation have produced the band’s last few tours, but according to Music Week, AEG are looking to bid for the rights to promote the tour worldwide.
The last Stones tour remains the highest grossing tour of all time, with an estimated $558m in tour revenue.
