Stone Free Festival announces cult classic film screenings
Both films complement the headline sets from Alice Cooper and Rick Wakeman.
Stone Free Festival will screen two cult classic movies over the O2 Arena festival weekend.
On Saturday 18th June, the very same day Planet Rock’s very own Alice Cooper headlines the festival, the Stone Free Cinema will screen John Carpenter’s Prince of Darkness at the O2 Cineworld at 1pm.
A rare chance to see this much-loved 1987 movie on the big screen, Prince of Darkness is a supernatural horror film exploring themes of faith, religious mysticism and revisionist history and stars Alice Cooper as the leader of an army of possessed vagrants.
A perfect aperitif for Rick Wakeman’s headline set on Sunday 19th June, where the keyboard wizard will perform ‘The Myths And Legends Of King Arthur And The Knights Of The Round Table’ in its entirety for the first time since 1975, the Stone Free Cinema will screen John Boorman’s Excalibur at 1pm.
A visual masterpiece, Excalibur is often referred to as the definitive King Arthur movie and stars Helen Mirren, Liam Neeson, Patrick Stewart and Nicol Williamson.
All holders of festival tickets can see both Prince of Darkness and Excalibur for free.
Stone Free Festival also boasts performances from The Darkness, Marillion, Blackberry Smoke, Steve Hackett, Therapy?, Apocalyptica, Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here Symphonic Live, The Virginmarys, The Lounge Kittens, Jackaman and more.
As well as the phenomenal live music and cinema screenings there will also be special acoustic performances, Q&As with headline performers, a vinyl fair, specialist market stalls, classic album playbacks, Rock Royalty VIP packages, craft beers and street food alongside the established award-winning restaurants.
