Stevie Nicks performed her rescheduled concert at Glasgow OVO Hydro last night (Wednesday 24th July), and she told the audience more details about why she had to axe the original show at the eleventh hour.

Just hours before the Fleetwood Mac legend was due to take to the stage at Glasgow OVO Hydro on Saturday 6th July, it was announced that Stevie Nicks’ Glasgow and Manchester shows were being pushed back because of an injury.

The Manchester gig was later rearranged for Tuesday 16th July with the Glasgow concert taking place last night.

At the packed OVO Hydro gig, the 76-year-old told the crowd she had to urgently leave the castle where she had been staying before she was due to perform.

Nicks spoke of how her crew came to Scotland early because they were so "excited to be in Glasgow" as they "loved being here."

Nicks told the crowd of the moment she realised she needed treatment: “I don’t know what happened, I just got this weird infection, and it just went crazy.

“I finally looked at my assistant, it was like two in the morning (we were partying), and said we need to go to hospital.

“She looked at me and I just said, ‘I’m not kidding’.

“Our butler threw me in his car and we sped through the night to a hospital and I was there for two days.”

She commended the help and hospitality she was given by the medical team: “I was so looked after there.

“You are a really special country and a really special people.”

The ‘Edge of Seventeen’ singer comment that ‘she was happy as she got to stay in the castle a couple more days’ as she adored staying there and the country.

Nicks told the crowd how she has been "battling this the whole tour" to which the crowd gave her a rapturous round of applause.

Before she said with determination: “But, I would be damned if I wasn’t coming back here to play this show and finish this tour.”

'A big Scottish goodbye' from the rock legend

At the end of the emotional show, Nicks brought all her crew, band and friends on stage to thank them as the rescheduled date had meant it had turned out to be the last gig in her two-year tour.

Nicks said: “This is our last show, we’ve been on the road for two-years now and this is the final, final show."

As the curtain came down on the moving performance, Nicks bid farewell to her late bandmate in a poignant moment, asking the crowd to give "a big Scottish goodbye to Christine McVie."

McVie, who was in Fleetwood Mac alongside Nicks, died on 30th November 2022 from a stroke.
