Celebrity news site TMZ reported last week that authorities were called to Adler’s property at 6.30pm local time on Thursday 27th June and he was rushed to hospital with a “self-inflicted stab wound” to the stomach.

A spokesperson at the Los Angeles Fire Department also confirmed to People that they were called to the address for a possible stabbing and took a male patient to the local hospital via ambulance.

Adler’s representatives later issued a statement to TMZ saying the stabbing was "accidental" and that it was a "very minor, superficial wound".

Last night, Adler posted a video to his official Facebook page of himself standing alongside abstract impressionist painter Tommy Hollenstein in his art studio.

After an introduction from Hollenstein, Adler tells the camera: "I'm really sorry about all this media confusion that's been going on. I'm alive and well.

“I'm looking forward to seeing everybody on July 12th at the Golden Nugget in (Las) Vegas and July 13th at this motorcycle rally in Oregon, which is gonna be bad to the bone.

“And I love everybody, and I can't wait to see and hug everybody. Thank you so much for your love and support."

Although Steven Adler hasn’t been part of the Guns N’ Roses reunion line-up on the Not In This Lifetime… Tour, he has made several guest appearances on the trek.

The 54-year-old rocker, who was part of the ‘classic’ Guns line-up from 1985 to 1990, made four cameo appearances on the Not In This Lifetime… Tour in Cincinnati, Nashville, Los Angeles and Buenos Aires in 2016 guesting on the ‘Appetite For Destruction’ classics ‘Out ta Get Me’ and ‘My Michelle’.

Last year he reformed his Guns N’ Roses covers band Adler’s Appetite and performed ‘Appetite For Destruction’ in its entirety at shows in the US and Australia.

The current line-up of Adler’s Appetite – Adler on drums alongside singer Ariel Kamin, guitarists Michael Thomas and Alistair James, and bassist Tanya O Callaghan – recently played a show at Warehouse Live in Houston, Texas on 20th June.

In an interview in May 2018, Adler said he was celebrating four years and four months of sobriety.

He told the Lucas H Gordon Show: “After like the ninth month of not drinking my whole life did a 180 (degrees turn). Everything changed. I became happy again. I love life again. I enjoy the sunsets, I enjoy the sunrise. It’s beautiful.”
