Neal Schon says former frontman wanted to rejoin the band
Neal Schon has revealed that Steve Perry wanted to rejoin Journey.
The Daily Star quotes the Journey guitarist as saying "He seems to be enjoying the spotlight a little too much. The fact is he’s no longer the lead singer. He walked out.”
Perry left Journey in 1998 to pursue a solo career. He was replaced by Steve Augeri, who was forced to leave the band due to ill health in 2006. Jeff Scott Soto was then brought in but last less than a year and was replaced by current vocalist Arnel Pineda in December 2007.
The band have finished recording the follow up to 2008’s Revelation album. The new record is expected ahead of the band’s UK tour with Foreigner and Styx in April.
