Steve Hackett announces weighty new studio album ‘The Night Siren’
Former Genesis star Steve Hackett has announced details of his brand new studio album ‘The Night Siren’.
Released via InsideOut Music on 24th March 2017, as the title suggests, the record is described as a wake-up call ‘in this era of strife and division’ and deals with weighty issues like the plight of refugees and war.
A celebration of multicultural diversity and unity, alongside Steve’s signature guitar work there are an array of guest musicians from all corners of the globe including singers from Israel and Palestine and instrumentals from the USA and Iraq.
Musically highly eclectic, throughout the record there are also the sounds of the Indian sitar and Middle Eastern tar and oud, the Peruvian charango and the Celtic Uilleann pipes.
Steve comments: “This latest waxing represents a bird’s eye view of the world of a musical migrant ignoring borders and celebrating our common ancestry with a unity of spirit, featuring musicians, singers and instruments from all over the world.
“From territorial frontiers to walled-up gateways, boundaries often hold back the tide. But while the night siren wails, music breaches all defences. To quote Plato, ‘When the music changes, the walls of the city shake’.”
The track-listing is as follows:
- Behind the Smoke
- Martian Sea
- Fifty Miles from the North Pole
- El Niño
- Other Side of the Wall
- Anything but Love
- Inca Terra
- In Another Life
- In the Skeleton Gallery
