Status Quo Honoured For Decades Of Service

Variety Club commemorates 40 years in the the industry

Status Quo have been honoured at a special Variety Club lunch in their honour at the Dorchester Hotel in London.

The band celebrate their 43rd anniversary this year and they were treated to a free lunch by the Variety Club.

Chris Tarrant, who hosted the lunch, hailed the band saying "They have been just b**y splendid for year after year after year after year. I think they are much maligned. They have a great sense of fun these guys. They are also now a b**y brilliant band."

Rick Parfitt  reminisced "It's been fantastic, there have been so many highlights. I can still remember the first time I heard us on the radio. I was with my mum and dad and it was a Saturday and Brian Matthew was on. He played the record and I nearly fell over, I was weak at the knees."

Status Quo have recorded 33 albums, released 64 singles (22 of them top ten hits) and have sold an estimated 118m records worldwide. Parfitt and Rossi were awarded OBEs in the New Years Honours List this year and the band have been named the hardest working band in the UK for two years running by the Performing Rights Society.
