Soundgarden Start New Album
Band say that their aim for the year is to release a new record
In a simply post on their website the band revealed that they not only intended to release a new album this year, but that they had already started the process of writing it.
Their post simply read:
"Over the past few months, we've been busy jamming, writing and hanging out together - exploring the creative aspect of being Soundgarden. It feels great. We have some cool new songs that we are going to record very soon. Thank you for all of the support!"
The band announced their reunion on New Year's Day 2010, and they have played a handful of gigs in the US in the past year. New material would be their first since 1996, excluding the song 'Black Rain' which appeared on last year's Telephantism career retrospective (the song was a reworked offcut from the Badmotorfinger sessions).
Soundgarden release new live album Live On I-5 on 21 March.
