Smashing Pumpkins Start Work On New Album

But don't expect it before the end of 2013

The band released their eighth full studio album in 21 years, Oceania, earlier this year. The record was intended to be a part of a 44 song cycle called Teargarden by Kaleidyscope, but it's looking likely that we may see a full new album before that project is completed.

In an interview with Billboard frontman Billy Corgan said his band had "already started writing songs for a new album" which he says "definitely seems like it's going to be more of a rockin' affair."

He says that he hopes the album will be out by December 2013 but warns that it could take longer because "we're still touring, and I've never been successful writing on tour. I don't even try. So even if we went into the studio in November when we come off of this tour, it's still pretty ambitious to have it out by then."

The Smashing Pumpkins have employed Sean Evans to work with them on the visuals for their forthcoming tour. Evans worked most recently with Roger Waters on The Wall tour.
