Slash, McKagan, Sorum On Cherie Currie Comeback
Velvet Revolver alumni to appear on former Runaway\'s first album in 30 years
Cherie Currie’s brand new solo studio album will feature guest appearances from the likes of Slash and Duff McKagan, while their Velvet Revolver / GNR bandmate Matt Sorum also appears and produces the record.
Blabbermouth reports that Sorum described the album as "a great representation of Cherie's voice."
He revealed to VH1 Radio Networks' Dave Basner, "I told her when I said I'd produce it, 'You have to trust me on this. You need to make a cool, current rock and roll album.' The album is very much a rock album with some depth."
"It's sounding great; I'm really excited about that," he said. "Slash played on it, Duff played on it, I got Billy Corgan on a track, The Veronicas are coming in, Juliette Lewis, Courtney Love..."
The album is due before the end of the year and it will, remarkably, be Currie’s first solo album since 1980.
She recently supported her former Runaways bandmate Joan Jett on tour in the US, and you can watch a little fan filmed footage from the show below:
