Guns N’ Roses legend Slash has heaped praise on Beth Hart’s “really emotional” vocals on ‘Stormy Monday’ on his blues covers solo album ‘Orgy of the Damned.’

Slash’s epic eight-minute version of T-Bone Walker’s ‘Stormy Monday’ is the penultimate track on ‘Orgy of the Damned’, and the guitar icon revealed that Beth Hart’s stunning vocals were recorded in just one take.

While discussing how his guitar playing was “more relaxed” on ‘Orgy of the Damned’ compared to his other musical ventures, Slash told Rolling Stone: “I didn’t care about mistakes. I was just trying to go with the feel of things. We would do a take and the take would be good, and if the guitar wasn’t perfect, I would leave it like that.

“A good example of that was when we did ‘Stormy Monday’ with Beth Hart. That was the first time we ever played it with her. It was supposed to be a rehearsal, but she delivered such a hardcore performance that we just kept it as is. She put this crazy f---ing really emotional vocal on it.”

When the interviewer noted that Hart says “That was f---ing awesome” at the end of ‘Stormy Monday’, Slash responded: Well, she was — and we all were — reeling from the passing of Jeff Beck.

“She was wrecked from having just come back from his funeral. That vocal was her emotional homage to Jeff. She couldn’t do another take.”

Beth Hart shared the stage with Jeff Beck numerous times over the years, including a rendition of ‘I’d Rather Go Blind’ at the 35th Annual Kennedy Center Honors 2012 in tribute to Buddy Guy.

Shortly after Jeff Beck’s death in 2023, Beth Hart said: “He was so phenomenal and loving and you'd hang out with him and it would be like hanging out with someone in the seventh grade. He'd be in his 70s but he'd have energy like someone in the seventh grade. He had that enthusiasm.

“And no matter who you were, it wouldn't matter. It wouldn’t matter who was in the room working with him. If you played a note, he'd go ‘Wow, that's awesome, you know.’ He was just the most beautiful guy in the world and what a massive loss for the world.”

Also featuring collaborations with AC/DC’s Brian Johnson, Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler, ZZ Top’s Billy F Gibbons, Paul Rodgers, Demi Lovato, Iggy Pop, Gary Clark Jr., The Black Crowes’ ‘Chris Robinson, Chris Stapleton and Tash Neal, Slash’s blues covers album ‘Orgy of the Damned’ is out now.

According to the Official Charts Company, ‘Orgy of the Damned’ is at Number 4 on the UK album chart at the midweek stage.
