Skynyrd Frontman Hospitalised

Johnny Van Zandt suffers setback from recent surgery

According to the band's official website the singer was hospitalized last week due to complications from a previous surgery.

Van Zant was admitted to the Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN on 6 August, with a surgical site infected cellulitis which required hospitalization with IV antibiotic treatment. Van Zant has a severe Staph infection and multiple symptoms related to infection. He is to remain out of work and recover until cleared by his primary physician.

The hospitalisation means that several of the band's live dates in the US last week were cancelled.

They are, however, expected to resume their tour with the Doobie Brothers on Friday.
