Kiss bassist feels wrath of hackers after illegal download tirade
Gene Simmons has fallen foul of a group of hackers following a tirade against illegal downloading last week.
Last week Simmons said that he believed all illegal downloaders should be sued to save the music industry.
"The music industry was asleep at the wheel and didn't have the balls to sue every fresh-faced, freckle-faced college kid who downloaded material,” Simmons said. "And so now we're left with hundreds of thousands of people without jobs. There's no industry.”
However, that made him the target of the notorious messageboard 4chan's Anonymous wing who hacked Simmons’ http://www.genesimmons.com/ and rerouted it to illegal download site Pirate Bay.
The site has now been taken down completely while it is fixed.
